Session on Challenges Facing Humanitarian Work Organized at 3rd Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum

Riyadh-- A scientific session titled,” Challenges in Humanitarian Work”, was organized on Tuesday as part of the 3rd Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum, moderated by journalist Juliette Foster, with the participation of Special Envoy of the Secretary General of the Arab League for Humanitarian Relief Affairs Sheikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Thani, Head of Division for Migration, Environments and Climate Change at the International Organization for Migration Manuel Marques Pereira, Director of Humanitarian Financing and Resource Mobilization Division at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Lisa Doughten, Director of the Department of Public Health and Environment at the World Health Organization Dr. Maria Neira, Regional Humanitarian Advisor for Arab States at United Nations Population Fund Elke Mayrhofer, and Regional Expert of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene at UNICEF Kate Dyer.

Participants in the session discussed the major challenges facing humanitarian efforts, including natural disasters and political conflicts, stressing the need for equipping civil facilities to be able to cope with natural disasters, decreasing Carbon dioxide emission and installing solar panels and other renewables.
