Riyadh: Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) Sultan Al-Marshad visited UNRWA installations in Jordan, constructed and rehabilitated with funding from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through SFD. He was accompanied by UNRWA Commissioner-General ad interim Christian Saunders.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the visit included UNRWA Preparatory Boys' School No. 2 in Amman New Camp and Zohour Health Centre, providing an opportunity to see first-hand the impact of Saudi support on UNRWA infrastructure and education and health services for the Palestinian refugee communities UNRWA serves in Jordan.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's efforts, through the SFD, to support Palestinian refugees stem from its development and humanitarian approach, aimed at contributing to the improvement of their living conditions and the essential services provided to them. These efforts have included supporting vital sectors, most notably education and healthcare, as well as contributing to infrastructure rehabilitation. This enhances the ability of beneficiary communities to access essential and sustainable services, while strengthening support for refugees' resilience and their capacity to overcome challenges, thereby contributing to creating suitable conditions for their return to their homes and homeland.
The CEO of SFD said: "Today's visit provides an important opportunity to see first-hand the impact of the projects SFD has supported through UNRWA and the difference they are making in people's daily lives. Through this support, vital infrastructure has been strengthened, helping communities access quality education, healthcare and other essential services. During his visit, the CEO of the SFD met with Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan. The two sides reviewed the fund's development projects in Jordan and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation.
