Makkah: The CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), Prof. Hisham Aljadhey, prioritizes ensuring the safety of food provided to pilgrims throughout its production and consumption. This objective is accomplished by conducting on-site inspections of factories and warehouses in cooperation with relevant authorities, ensuring that products meet specifications and standards. The SFDA also educates pilgrims about food safety in multiple languages and conducts field studies to monitor food quality and safety during the Hajj season.
Additionally, the safety of medications and medical devices brought by pilgrims through entry points or Hajj agencies is verified by electronically receiving and reviewing supply requests. Electronic linking with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has been activated to streamline request processing. This system ensures an abundant supply of medication is available in the Kingdom, providing reassurance to all.
