Lahore: The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has clarified the approved regulations and procedures for obtaining personal clearance permits for controlled medications carried by pilgrims for personal use. This initiative is part of the authority's ongoing efforts to serve pilgrims, facilitate the performance of their rituals, and ensure the safety and well-being of all visitors to the holy sites.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the SFDA indicated that several requirements must be met to obtain a clearance permit. These include a copy of the applicant's passport, a valid medical prescription or report issued within the past six months, and an image of the medication and its outer packaging. Additionally, applicants must agree to the electronic declaration included in the application before submission.

The SFDA further emphasized the importance of complying with approved quantity limits. The permitted amount must not exceed a 30-day supply or the duration of the pilgrim's stay in the Kingdom, whichever is shorter, based on the dosage specified in the medical prescription or report.

The authority noted that these measures reflect an integrated regulatory and oversight framework aimed at ensuring a safe and seamless experience for pilgrims. This system facilitates their entry into the Kingdom while maintaining strict control over the handling and circulation of such medications.
