Minister of Health Launches Retinopathy of Prematurity National Program
Riyadh, Minister of Health Dr. Tawfig AlRabiah launched here yesterday the National Program to address Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) being implemented by King Khalid Eye Specialist Hospital (KKESH).
The Program, the First of its kind in the Kingdom, will contribute to preventing 400 cases of preemies blindness annually.
In the first phase of the program, neonatal intensive care units at MOH hospitals will be covered. Twenty-one cameras will be distributed in all provinces of the Kingdom, linked to KKESH, and transfer to the hospital eye consultant for examining and recommendations.
National Program for ROP is using high tech instrument developed and executed by KKESH's IT department and Ministry of Health provided in this regard the needed equipment and cadres to launch the program.
