Sudan Condemns Burning of Copies of the Holy Quran in Sweden

Khartoum, Apr 21, 2022, SPA — Sudan has strongly condemned the burning of copies of the Holy Quran by some extremists in Sweden, stressing that it is a deliberate and hostile behavior and abuse provoking the feelings of Muslims around the world.

In a statement issued today, the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs that limits of freedom of expression should not go beyond infringing the rights of others and provoking their feelings, which contradicts all religious values and principles, human rights principles and fundamental freedoms stipulated in treaties and charters and undermines peaceful coexistence.

Sudan warned of the dangers of inciting hatred and provoking religious feelings that fuel hostility and division in societies and offend the values of freedom and their human meanings to only serve the agendas of extremism and counter-extremism, renewing its firm stance and refusal to abuse religions and beliefs.
