Tarshid Initiates Second Phase of Energy Retrofitting at King Abdulaziz Military City

Tabuk: The National Energy Services Company (Tarshid) and King Abdulaziz Military City in Tabuk have launched phase two of an energy retrofitting project for more than 500 buildings and facilities across the city. This initiative aligns with international best practices to increase energy efficiency and reduce consumption. According to Saudi Press Agency, Board Member and CEO of Tarshid Waled Al-Ghreri stated that the company had conducted field surveys and technical studies on the buildings and facilities within the project's scope, which revealed the importance of applying key measures crucial for increasing energy efficiency. Lighting systems will be upgraded by replacing the current conventional lights with energy-saving LED systems, along with installing occupancy sensors and smart motion detectors. Air conditioning chillers will be replaced with energy-efficient models. The project targets an annual electricity consumption of approximately 38 million kWh. After completing the retrofit works, the consu mption is expected to reduce to about 22 million kWh, with an estimated annual energy savings of 43%. These addressed savings equate to preserving more than 26,000 barrels of oil equivalent annually, equivalent to the environmental impact of planting more than 156,000 tree seedlings annually. Tarshid was launched in 2017 as the super ESCO in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The company supports the energy sector and advances sustainability by integrating energy efficiency, operational efficiency, and clean energy solutions. Through its mission, Tarshid contributes to the Kingdom's strategic sustainability objectives derived from Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to achieve significant energy savings and reduce harmful emissions.
