TGA Permits Temporary Contracting of Third-Party Transport Services by Licensed Establishments

Riyadh: The Transport General Authority (TGA) has announced a temporary measure allowing licensed commercial transport establishments to contract third-party goods transport services on their own behalf. This exceptional measure, effective until September 25, aims to enhance the efficient use of the land transport fleet and boost operational flexibility in response to current changes.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the TGA explained that this initiative is part of a series of exceptional procedures designed to enable establishments to optimally utilize their operational capabilities. This step supports the continuity of supply chains and enhances the efficiency of goods transport within Saudi Arabia and to neighboring countries.

The authority clarified that to benefit from this allowance, trucks must be registered as public transport vehicles and belong to a licensed commercial transport establishment. Additionally, all transport operations are required to be documented through the Logisti platform to ensure organized processes, enhancing reliability and transparency.

The TGA confirmed that this measure is part of a broader package aimed at enhancing the sector's readiness. This includes preparing over 500,000 trucks to support the movement of goods, launching a guide for national carriers via the Logisti platform, permitting empty refrigerated trucks from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to enter the Kingdom, and extending the operational lifespan of trucks to 22 years for a six-month period. These initiatives are intended to support the stability of supply chains and increase the overall efficiency of the sector.
