TGA Sponsors Launch of First Hydrogen-Powered Heavy-Duty Truck Equipped with Autonomous Driving Technologies

Riyadh: The Transport General Authority (TGA) sponsored the launch of the first hydrogen-powered heavy-duty truck equipped with autonomous driving technologies, with the support of the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services, and through a partnership between Ismail Abudawood and Procter and Gamble Limited and Hyperview. The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to advance modern technologies that support sustainable transport.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the launch comes as part of efforts to promote innovative solutions in the transport sector and accelerate the adoption of advanced technologies that contribute to the development of transport and logistics systems while enhancing operational efficiency.

Powered by clean hydrogen energy, the truck operates with zero carbon emissions and can be refueled within minutes. It also offers a driving range of up to 1,500 kilometers, making it well suited for heavy-duty freight operations and long-haul transportation.

The truck is equipped with multiple levels of autonomous driving capabilities, in addition to digital systems that enable continuous updates and a smart design powered by software and artificial intelligence. These features support the development of modern transport solutions and enhance operational efficiency.

The initiative contributes to advancing sustainable transport, reducing carbon emissions, enhancing the efficiency of supply chains and logistics services, and improving safety through advanced autonomous driving technologies.

The project marks a step toward a more efficient and sustainable future for heavy transport by leveraging clean hydrogen technologies and innovation in developing modern transport solutions.
