The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed, today, the reopening of the Swiss Embassy in Baghdad after 33 years of closure. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement: "This step comes within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and Switzerland, and reflects the desire of both sides to consolidate cooperation in various fields." The Ministry stressed: "The reopening of the Swiss Embassy represents a positive sign in the path of diplomatic relations, and opens new horizons for fruitful cooperation between the two countries, in a way that serves the interests of the two friendly peoples." The Ministry explained: "It looks forward to strengthening partnerships and developing bilateral dialogue with Switzerland, and is working to create appropriate conditions for the success of joint efforts in pushing the paths of cooperation forward."
