The Border Ports Authority announced today, Monday, the arrest of three travelers in their possession more than 36 million dinars of (counterfeited) Iraqi currency at Al-Qaim port.

A statement by the Authority stated, "The Directorate of Al-Qaim Border Crossing managed to arrest three travelers with an amount of (36,475,000) dinars of (counterfeited) Iraqi currency, denomination twenty-five thousand, hidden in (socks and underwear)."

He added, "A formal arrest report was organized and the accused and the seized items were referred to the existing Customs Police Station to take the appropriate legal measures against them."

Yesterday, Sunday, also at the Al-Qaim crossing, the Border Ports Authority announced the arrest of two Iraqi travelers who tried to smuggle more than 26 million dinars, 50 thousand US dollars and pound sterling./ End
