The Turkish MoD Announces The Killing Of A Leader Of The (PKK) In Northern Iraq

The Turkish Defense Ministry announced the killing of a prominent leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in northern Iraq.

The Turkish Defense Ministry said in a statement today, Monday, that the leader, Farid Yuksel, who is in charge of communications in the PKK, was surrounded by a special force of the Turkish army in a mountain cave in Zab region in northern Iraq.

In its statement, the Turkish defense indicated that the Turkish forces besieging Yuksel / nicknamed "Sherzan Mava" / asked him to surrender, but he refused and took the initiative to fire from his personal weapon / Kalashnikov / which forced the besieging force to respond and kill him on the spot.
