The Commission for the Affairs of Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners revealed in its report issued today, details of the deliberate medical negligence and continued procrastination in treating the two prisoners, Ahmed Kaabneh and Samir Abu Nimah, after the Commission's lawyer, Sherine Nasser, visited them in Ramon Prison.

The Commission said that the prisoner, Ahmed Kaabna (53 years old) / Jericho, has been suffering from a prostate problem for 6 years. He went to a specialist several times and was told that he needed to undergo surgery, but there was clear negligence and procrastination in giving him an appointment, and the prisoner feared that it would explode at any time. Moment. He also suffers from a dental problem, as he has lost most of his upper jaw teeth, and needs an implant operation quickly. He submitted a request to the prison administration 10 months ago, and has not yet received approval or rejection.

Note that Kaabneh is a former prisoner. He was arrested in 1997, and 26 years have passed since his arrest. He has been sentenced to two life sentences and 7 years in prison. He is married and the father of three girls, one of whom he conceived through smuggled sperm and named her Rafif.

As for the Jerusalemite prisoner, Samir Abu Nimah (63 years old), he faces difficult health conditions, which worsen over time, as a result of the harsh interrogation and detention conditions that he has lived through since his arrest, and the accompanying intentional medical negligence against him, as he suffers from continuous pain in his right hand and limited mobility. Movement as a result of the torture he was subjected to during the interrogation period, severe pain in the nerve center of the spine, in addition to torn tendons in the shoulder, and the presence of water in his knee.

At a time when the prison administration refuses to bring in the medication needed to treat him or allow him to buy it on his own account, even though they have no alternative, and he also has to wait long periods for appointments and specialists, the prisoner must wait 4 years for them to decide on an operation for him, a year for a CT scan and a year Then go to the specialist, and years to schedule the operation.

Abu Nimah refuses to go out to the center as a result of the severe pain he is exposed to due to his back discs, and he is in dire need of speeding up the provision of the necessary treatment for him and allowing the required medications to be brought in.

Note that Abu Nimah has been detained since 1986, and has been sentenced to life imprisonment. He is one of 25 veteran prisoners detained before the signing of the Oslo Accords
