Thunderstorms and High Winds Expected Across Regions of Saudi Arabia

Riyadh: Moderate to heavy thunderstorms are forecasted to hit parts of Jazan and Aseer regions, potentially leading to flash floods. These storms will be accompanied by hail and gusty winds. Light to moderate rain is also anticipated over parts of Najran, Al-Baha, and the southern highlands of the Makkah Region.

According to Saudi Press Agency, extreme heat conditions are expected over the Eastern, Riyadh, Qassim, and Northern Borders regions. Gusty, dust-stirring winds will impact these areas, as well as parts of Madinah and Makkah regions, which may result in reduced horizontal visibility to zero or near zero along their coasts.

Winds over the Red Sea will vary, with northwesterly to westerly winds reaching speeds of 15-30 km/h in the northern part and 20-45 km/h in the central part. In the southern part, winds will range from southwesterly to northwesterly at speeds of 15-55 km/h. Wave heights will range from half a meter to over two meters, making the sea conditions calm to choppy.

In the Arabian Gulf, wind patterns will shift from northwesterly to westerly at speeds of 15-35 km/h in the northern and central parts and will transition from southwesterly to northwesterly, and later to southeasterly in the evening, at speeds of 10-25 km/h in the southern part. The sea will remain relatively calm with waves ranging from half a meter to one meter.
