Transport Authority: Hajj 1447 AH Indicators Reflect High Readiness, Integrated Transport System

Makkah: The Transport General Authority (TGA) confirmed that operational and regulatory performance indicators during the 1447 AH Hajj season reflected a high level of readiness and integration across transport activities and services, contributing to smoother pilgrim mobility and enhancing service quality throughout the season.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the TGA said it prepared more than 33,000 buses equipped with all required safety features and compliant with quality standards and regulations, in addition to more than 5,000 taxis. It also allocated 32 intercity bus routes operating 1,193 weekly trips using a fleet of 139 buses, providing multiple transport options that supported pilgrims' movement between key locations and the holy sites.

The authority added that it deployed 300 personnel across 50 strategic locations to oversee operational and regulatory activities during the season. Regulatory efforts included more than 400,000 field inspections and the activation of over 950 automated monitoring systems to ensure compliance of transport vehicles in Makkah and Madinah.

These efforts contributed to raising overall compliance with land transport regulations and requirements to 90%. The transport system also recorded strong performance, achieving a 100% on-time rate for train services, while intercity bus punctuality exceeded 96%.

As part of initiatives to advance service quality, the TGA handled more than 2,500 reports in Makkah and Madinah regions and conducted over 13,000 surveys to measure pilgrims' satisfaction with transport services, supporting ongoing improvements and enhancing the beneficiary experience.

Regulatory actions also included warning more than 18,000 transport operators to correct violations, recording over 90,000 violations, and impounding 1,250 non-compliant vehicles, as part of measures aimed at raising compliance levels, strengthening safety, and ensuring adherence to transport regulations and instructions.

The TGA confirmed that the achievements recorded during the 1447 AH Hajj season reflect integration among relevant entities and the operational and regulatory readiness of the transport system. These outcomes contributed to the provision of safe, orderly, and reliable transport services for pilgrims and supported their spiritual journey from arrival to departure.
