The united nations: The United Nations warned of the growing impact of armed conflicts on global food security. Conflicts are affecting farms, markets, ports, and shipping routes while driving up energy, fertilizer, and food costs in several parts of the world.

According to Saudi Press Agency, UN Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres said during a UN Security Council session on conflict-related food insecurity that 266 million people faced acute food insecurity over the past year. He noted that conflict and violence are the main drivers of hunger in 12 of the world's 13 hunger hotspots.

Guterres said famine conditions had been recorded in parts of Sudan and the Gaza Strip. He called for the protection of farms, water networks, markets, storage facilities, ports, and supply routes. He also stressed the need for early action when signs of food insecurity emerge.

The UN called for stronger and earlier international responses to food crises and greater protection of infrastructure related to food production and transportation. The call comes amid growing humanitarian needs and declining resources available to relief agencies.
