Venus-Ramadan Crescent Conjunction Adorns Northern Borders Skies

Medina: The skies over Northern Borders Region: witnessed a striking astronomical scene on Tuesday evening, as the planet Venus aligned with the crescent marking the first day of Ramadan shortly after sunset.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the slender crescent appeared low on the western horizon, shimmering above Venus - one of the brightest celestial bodies after the sun and moon - under clear skies that enhanced visibility. This type of conjunction is considered one of the recurring astronomical phenomena, but its coincidence with the beginning of Ramadan has imparted a special aesthetic dimension.

The conjunction occurs due to the apparent proximity of the two bodies in the sky as seen from Earth, without reflecting any actual closeness in distance. Such phenomena help promote interest in astronomy and foster scientific awareness within the community.

The celestial display marked the opening nights of the holy month, adding a serene and reflective atmosphere in Northern Borders Region.
