Winners of Bahrain Quran Grand Prize honoured

Winners of the 27th edition of the Bahrain Quran Grand Prize were honoured during a ceremony marking (Laylat al-Qadr).

The ceremony was held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at Al Fateh Islamic Centre.

The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) co-organised the event with the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments.

It was attended by SCIA President Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Rashid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Supreme Judicial Council Deputy Chairman, Court of Cassation President Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawda.

The ceremony was also attended by scholars, SCIA members, Shura Council members, Representative Council members, Members of the Sunni and Jafari Endowments Councils, judges, ambassadors, officials and participants from Quranic centres.

SCIA President Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa addressed the ceremony, extending best wishes to HM the King, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the people of Bahrain and the Islamic nation on the (Laylat al-Qadr).

He praised the royal support of HM the King for Islamic activities which, he said, backed the SCIA-led role in serving Islam and reinforcing longstanding values and deep-rooted fundamentals.

SCIA members Dr. Farid bin Yacoub Al Meftah and Dr. Sulaiman bin Al Shaikh Mansour Al Sitri also addressed the ceremony, praising the royal patronage of the event.

The late His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Quranic competition won the award for the best local Quranic contest, while Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa Center won the award for the best Quranic center for males.

The participants from the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Social Development – were honoured during the ceremony.

The prizes were then distributed to 108 male winners. The competition also included individual prizes - The eldest contestant prize, the youngest contestant prize, Prophet Dawood’s Flute prize, best Quranic center prize, Family Quran Prize, and Best Local Quran Competition prize.

A total of 4063 contestants – 2003 men and 2060 women – took part in different categories of the 27th edition of the Bahrain Quran Grand Prize.

The categories included: The Holy Quran memorization for students of Quranic centers, Bayan Prize for school students, Ajran Prize for people with mild intellectual disabilities, Ghufran Prize for inmates of the Correction and Rehabilitation Department, Radwan Prize for the public, and Salman Al Farsi Prize for non-Arabic speakers recitation.
