Riyadh: The first stop of the new global CyberHero league for humanoid robotics competitions kicked off in Riyadh, organized by Hero Esports. The event marks the beginning of a season set to be held in eight cities around the world.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Esports Federation (SEF) Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan witnessed the launch of the CyberHero x Riyadh event, held Wednesday at Boulevard City. The event brought together robotic sports, technology, and live entertainment and featured the first combat competition for humanoid robots, which are designed to resemble the human body in form and function. The industry is experiencing rapid growth, driven by its integration with advanced artificial intelligence technologies.

The competition featured EngineAI T800 humanoid robots, each standing about 1.73 meters tall, weighing between 75 and 85 kilograms, and equipped with 29 movable joints. The robots can perform movements including walking, running, punching, kicking, spinning, and getting back up after a fall.

Hero Esports plans to expand the league across four main regions: the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, and Asia, with the Middle East hosting two of the eight stops. The vision aims to bring physical AI technologies from laboratories to a global competitive arena. The company also plans to add disciplines and competitions as humanoid robot capabilities develop, with the aim of building a global platform for robotic competitions that evolves alongside advances in physical AI technologies.
