ZATCA Urges Timely Submission of April VAT Returns by Businesses

Riyadh: The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has called on businesses subject to value-added tax (VAT), whose annual supplies of goods and services surpass SAR40 million, to file their tax returns for April by the deadline of May 31, 2026. This announcement is part of ZATCA's ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with tax regulations in the Kingdom.

According to Saudi Press Agency, ZATCA has encouraged establishments to submit their tax returns promptly through its official website or the ZATCA smartphone application. This proactive measure is aimed at helping businesses avoid late-filing penalties, which can be substantial. The penalties for failing to file on time range from a minimum of 5% to a maximum of 25% of the undeclared tax amount.

Businesses seeking assistance with their tax returns can reach out to ZATCA through various channels for support. The authority offers around-the-clock service through its unified call center at 19993. Additionally, businesses can contact ZATCA via the @Zatca_Care X account, email at [email protected], or engage in live chat on the authority's website at zatca.gov.sa.

Value-added tax is a key component of the tax systems implemented in the Kingdom. It is an indirect tax applied to most goods and services bought and sold by establishments, with specific exemptions. ZATCA's reminder underscores the importance of timely compliance with VAT regulations to avoid financial penalties and ensure smooth business operations.
