Al-Jouf Region Sets Guinness World Record for Largest Wild Seedling Production

Al-jouf: Governor of Al-Jouf Region Prince Faisal bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz has received a Guinness World Records certificate recognizing the nursery complex in Al-Jouf as the largest producer of wild and rangeland seedlings, with an annual production capacity of 15 million seedlings. This achievement aligns with the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) highlighted this accomplishment as a significant milestone in land rehabilitation. Al-Tamariyat Station for Field Experiments and Pastoral Seeds Production also received a Guinness World Records certificate for the largest sustainable desert plant plantation, supporting environmental rehabilitation and combating desertification.

The NCVC further reported that Al-Jouf achieved another Guinness World Record for the largest seasonal collection by gathering 95 tonnes of wild and pastoral seeds. This reflects the region's advancement in producing native plants and supporting large-scale vegetation cover development efforts.

The nursery complex, covering approximately 120,000 square meters, includes 28 protected greenhouses equipped with advanced agricultural technologies. It plays a crucial role in ecosystem restoration, rangeland rehabilitation, and enhancing vegetation cover in degraded areas.

The NCVC mentioned that the complex operates under sustainable operational policies that emphasize environmental protection, efficient resource use, and production quality. It adheres to strict procedures for monitoring production processes, documenting operations, and ensuring the quality, traceability, and verification of seedlings.

The integration of seed production, collection, and seedling production at the complex significantly contributes to environmental sustainability, combating desertification, and supporting the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative by developing vegetation cover and protecting natural resources.
