AlShabab Defeats Zakho on Penalties, Sets Up Gulf Champions League Final Clash with Al-Rayyan

Doha: AlShabab Saudi Football Club advanced to the final of the Gulf Champions League after defeating Zakho SC 4-3 on penalties yesterday, following its semifinal match at Khalifa International Stadium in Qatar.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the first half ended goalless before Zakho took the lead in the 73rd minute. In stoppage time, AlShabab equalized in the 90+2nd minute through a penalty successfully converted by Yannick Carrasco, bringing the match back to level terms.

The match went to extra time, which ended scoreless, leading to a penalty shootout that favored AlShabab.

With this victory, AlShabab advanced to the final, where it will face the Qatari side Al-Rayyan on Thursday, April 23, after Al-Rayyan defeated Kuwait's Al Qadsiah 2-0.
