The Turkish security forces seized 116 irregular immigrants in the state of Edirne, northwest of the country, including those holding Iraqi citizenship.

Security sources reported that the border guards and gendarmerie carried out operations against groups trying to leave the country illegally, according to Anadolu Agency.

It indicated that the operations resulted in the arrest of 116 irregular immigrants holding the nationalities of Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Afghanistan, Palestine, Pakistan and Morocco.

The immigrants were transferred to the Immigration Directorate in the state to take legal measures against them.
