Bahrain Condemns Houthi Missile Attack on Madinah Region

Manama Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a strong condemnation of the attempted Houthi militia attack targeting the Madinah Region with a ballistic missile. The attack also involved the launch of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) directed toward the Eastern Region.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministry labeled these actions as blatant violations of Saudi Arabia's sovereignty and international law. It emphasized the threats posed to civilians and visitors at the Prophet's Mosque, as well as the affront to the sanctity of Islamic holy sites, which it stated is offensive to Muslims globally. The ministry also commended the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces for their effective response in intercepting and thwarting the attacks.

Bahrain reiterated its complete solidarity with Saudi Arabia, supporting all measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability, as well as to ensure the safety of its citizens and residents. The ministry affirmed Saudi Arabia's legitimate right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and emphasized that the security of Saudi Arabia is integral to Bahrain's security and that of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

Furthermore, the ministry renewed its call for the United Nations Security Council to implement firm measures to stop recurring Houthi terrorist attacks, protect religious holy sites and civilian objects, and hold accountable those responsible and their supporters. The statement urged the full implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216 (2015), to maintain regional and international peace and security.
