Bahrain Condemns Houthi Missile Attacks on Saudi Arabia’s Holy Regions

Manama:The Kingdom of Bahrain has issued a strong condemnation against the Houthi militia's ongoing terrorist attacks targeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The attacks involve the use of ballistic missiles and UAVs, with two ballistic missiles specifically aimed at the Makkah and Madinah regions. These missiles were successfully intercepted by Saudi air defenses.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized the Houthi militia for endangering civilian objects and vital infrastructure, and for threatening the holiest sites and their visitors. The ministry described these actions as a blatant violation of Saudi Arabia's sovereignty, international law, and international humanitarian law. It further characterized the attacks as a dangerous escalation that jeopardizes regional security and stability, violates the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques, and provokes Muslims worldwide.

Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia, supporting all measures taken by the kingdom to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability. This includes ensuring the safety of citizens and residents, preserving the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques, and protecting their visitors. Additionally, Bahrain affirmed Saudi Arabia's right to self-defense as outlined in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and commended the effectiveness of Saudi air defenses in countering the attacks.

The ministry urged the United Nations Security Council to take decisive actions to stop the repeated Houthi terrorist attacks, safeguard religious sites, civilian objects, and civilian lives, and hold those responsible accountable. It called for the implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolutions 2216 and 2817, to maintain regional and international peace and security.
