Fifty three displaced Lebanese families, including 158 people, arrived in Basra. The Deputy Governor of Basra, Head of the Reception Committee, Maher Al-Amiri, said: "There is continuous communication between the local and central governments to provide services and other supplies needed by the displaced Lebanese families," referring to an initiative by the Prime Minister to provide school seats for displaced students and pupils at all educational levels. He added: "One of the hotels in Basra opened its doors to receive the displaced families for free until the situation is resolved and they return to their homes." Al-Amiri continued: "The Basra Governorate has undertaken to receive and house the families, and provides them with all services, including food and drink, at its own expense."
