The United States warned Iran that it would face severe consequences, due to its ballistic missile attack on Israel, on Tuesday, saying that the attack represents a major escalation but appears to have been thwarted. US President Joe Biden expressed his country's strong support for Israel, and described the Iranian attack as ineffective. Biden said that a discussion is underway on how Israel responds, stressing that he will hold a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Later, Biden told reporters: "The United States fully supports Israel," adding that it is necessary to wait and see how Israel responds. Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, considered Iran a "dangerous and destabilizing" force in the Middle East, and that Washington is committed to Israel's security. She added in statements: "I clearly recognize that Iran is a destabilizing and dangerous force in the Middle East, and I will always work to ensure that Israel is able to defend itself against Iran and its terro rist militias." Former President Donald Trump also issued a statement after Iran launched the missiles, without directly addressing the attack. Trump said in the statement: "Iran exports terrorism to all parts of the world, and this is beginning to unfold."
