US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken confirmed on Sunday that the United States’ Arab allies are “committed to not expanding the scope of the conflict with Israel” after a tour he made in 6 Arab countries.
The US Secretary of State said before leaving Cairo on his way to Israel: “No one should add fuel to the fire elsewhere.”
These statements coincide with mutual bombing on the border between Lebanon and Israel, which raised fears that the war between Israel and Hamas would turn into a regional conflict.
Blinken is on a tour in the region that includes 6 Arab countries, after the Hamas movement and other Palestinian factions in Gaza launched Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood,” in response to the continuing attacks by Israeli forces and settlers on the Palestinian people and their property, including Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Earlier, the Iranian Foreign Minister called on Israel to stop its attacks on Gaza, warning that the war might expand to other parts of the Middle East if Hezbollah joined the battle.
The Israeli army has been launching intensive raids for more than a week targeting infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, which has so far led to the death of more than 2,700 people and the injury of thousands, most of them women and children.
Israel also imposes a strict siege on the Gaza Strip, which is inhabited by more than two million people, amid depletion of food supplies, drinking water, and medicines, and hospitals overcrowding with injured people./End
