Communications Minister Announces Success of Hajj 1447 AH Communications and Technology Plans

Riyadh: Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) Eng. Abdullah Alswaha announced the success of the communications and technology plans for the 1447 AH Hajj season. He attributed this achievement to the support and empowerment provided by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, along with the direct guidance and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Kingdom's advanced digital infrastructure played a crucial role in serving pilgrims, enhancing their experience, and ensuring their health, security, and safety. Technological innovations such as the Nusuk, Absher, and Tawakkalna applications were utilized by pilgrims during their rituals, while modern technologies and artificial intelligence enabled government entities to deliver services with high reliability.

The minister praised the efforts of technicians and innovators in both government entities and among communications and technology service providers, who facilitated the pilgrims' journey. CST Governor Eng. Haitham Alohaly highlighted the significant support and empowerment extended to the sector by the leadership, which resulted in high network performance indicators. These included over 202.6 million local and international calls during the Hajj season in Makkah and the holy sites. Mobile internet speed reached 351 Mbps, marking an 18% increase compared with last year's Hajj season, and average daily data consumption per person reached 1,394 MB, more than twice the global average. This was achieved due to the advanced infrastructure and the integrated efforts of all entities serving pilgrims.
