CST Hosts Workshop on Quantum Computing Trends and Risks

Riyadh: The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) recently conducted a specialized workshop focusing on international trends, technical developments in quantum computing, and its applications in the communications, space, and technology sectors. Organized in collaboration with Huawei, the event aimed at raising awareness about the risks associated with quantum computing. It also sought to foster a unified effort to enhance the readiness of digital infrastructure within the ICT sector and promote the adoption of quantum-safe encryption technologies to protect sensitive data.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the workshop convened cybersecurity leaders and specialists from various telecommunications and technology companies. These experts discussed global trends in addressing the potential risks of quantum computing and shared experiences of international operators in deploying quantum communication networks and related services. The participants also explored strategies for adopting quantum-safe cryptographic algorithms to safeguard networks and ensure the secure and reliable continuity of critical services.

The workshop is part of CST's ongoing efforts to enable emerging technologies and keep pace with rapid developments in the Communications, Space, and Technology sectors.
