GCC Transport and Communications Ministers Discuss Joint Gulf Integrative Projects

Albudaiwi: GCC transport and communications ministers engaged in discussions today regarding the implementation of directives from the recent GCC leaders' meeting. The focus was on joint Gulf projects, as articulated during their 19th Consultative Meeting in Jeddah on April 28, 2026.

According to Saudi Press Agency, this dialogue occurred in an extraordinary meeting of the GCC Ministers of Transport and Communications Committee, conducted via videoconference. Jasem Albudaiwi, Secretary-General of the GCC, highlighted the ministers' commendation of the General Secretariat's initiatives to begin executing the leaders' supreme directives. The committee evaluated actions taken by the Higher Committee of the GCC General Secretariat and defined a future work plan with member states. Their goal is to strengthen supply chain corridors and address potential trade movement and logistics network impacts.

The ministers emphasized the importance of enhancing joint Gulf efforts and advancing future projects. They agreed on the necessity of proactive measures to ensure the smooth flow of land, sea, and air transport. Such measures are crucial for maintaining the sustainability of freight transit and the efficient operation of vital sectors.

In his concluding remarks, the GCC secretary-general expressed heartfelt gratitude to the GCC ministers of transport and communications. Their significant support has empowered the general secretariat's higher committee to fulfill its obligations effectively.
