Madinah: The agricultural sector in Madinah Region recorded the highest growth rate among economic sectors at 44%, driven by major development projects currently taking place in the region.
According to Saudi Press Agency, a report issued by the Madinah Chamber of Commerce and Industry said the agricultural sector's performance witnessed an increase in the number of commercial registrations from 375 in March 2025 to 540 in March 2026.
The report highlighted the region's most promising agricultural activities, noting that it is the Kingdom's third-largest date-producing region, with production reaching 344,000 tons, accounting for 18% of national production. The region has more than 26,000 palm farms with over 8 million palm trees, producing numerous varieties of dates for local consumption, while more than 41.5 million kilograms of dates are exported annually to more than 60 countries.
Madinah Region is home to 39 date factories, ranking second among the Kingdom's regions out of a total of 161 nationwide. These factories produce around 1.067 million tons of date products and derivatives annually, while the volume of dates allocated for packaging and processing stands at 785,500 tons. The region accounts for some 13% of the Kingdom's total date exports to countries worldwide.
Date processing, packaging, and exports in Madinah Region constitute a leading commercial activity within an integrated economic system that supports food processing, increases the added value of agricultural products, creates investment and employment opportunities, and strengthens Saudi exports globally.
