Eastern Region Mayor Showcases Remote Sensing Advances at Washington Symposium

Washington: Mayor of the Eastern Region Eng. Fahad Aljubair participated in the 2026 International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), held in Washington, D.C. During the conference, Al-Jubeir presented an applied scientific research paper on monitoring surface changes and cracks in Dammam using remote sensing and satellite technologies.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Al-Jubeir also discussed the use of space technologies and geospatial data to support urban planning, monitor infrastructure, and enhance data-driven decision-making. His participation highlighted the potential of remote sensing and Earth observation technologies in addressing urban challenges and supporting more effective, data-driven approaches to infrastructure monitoring and city planning.

The conference, organized by the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS), brings together researchers, experts, and representatives from scientific and technological institutions from around the world to exchange knowledge on advances in geoscience, Earth observation, and remote sensing technologies.
