Economy Minister Participates in GCC-WBG Event on the Sidelines of IMF-WBG Annual Meetings

Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal Alibrahim participated in the panel discussion titled ‘Human Capital: The Key to Economic Growth’, at the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and World Bank Group (WBG) Event, held on the sidelines of the IMF-WBG Annual Meetings.

Alibrahim said: ‘Saudi Vision 2030 is leading a transformative shift, redefining approaches to health, education, social protection, and gender equality, all aimed at building long-term resilience and global competitiveness.’

He added: ‘Education reforms are strategically designed to future-proof the workforce, emphasizing skills-based learning and fostering innovation, particularly in STEM fields, to position the Kingdom as a leader in technology and engineering.’

Alibrahim said that in the health sector, focus is placed on expanding infrastructure, integrating digital health solutions, and prioritizing preventive care, with the strategic aim of improving national wellness and healthcare efficiency.

He noted that preparing for the future of wor
k is a critical priority that requires targeted reskilling initiatives and strong private sector partnerships to navigate the shifts brought by automation and AI.

Small and medium enterprises are strategically positioned as key drivers of economic growth, with dedicated efforts to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship that supports sustainable development, the minister added.
