Doha: Caretaker Minister of Education and Higher Education, Judge Abbas al-Halabi, participated in the 14th ALECSO Conference on “Inclusive Education and Teacher Empowerment” held in Doha – Qatar, accompanied by Educational Center for Research and Development Head, Hiam Ishaq, and the General Coordinator of Educational Curricula, Jihad Saliba.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, in his address at the conference, Minister al-Halabi praised the event held in Qatar, describing it as a crucial platform that connects countries globally and fosters educational innovation. He acknowledged the annual efforts made by Qatar in promoting educational development and modernization, particularly in the fields of educational transformation and artificial intelligence.
Al-Halabi expressed Lebanon’s gratitude towards Qatar, specifically acknowledging the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the Government of Qatar, along with Her Excellency the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Lulwa bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater. He commended Qatar’s commitment to Arab issues and its consistent support to Lebanon during challenging times, highlighting various initiatives undertaken by Qatar to address longstanding issues.
Addressing Lebanon’s educational challenges, al-Halabi emphasized the need to secure essential components for safeguarding Lebanon’s educational sector amidst financial constraints and growing demands from teachers and citizens. He called upon the conference attendees, including the President of the Conference, the Director General, and ministers from friendly nations, to assist Lebanon in preserving its education sector.
Al-Halabi concluded by expressing hope that the situation in Lebanon and the region would improve, allowing Lebanon to reconnect with its Arab neighbors.
