Eight containers violating import conditions seized at the Umm Qasr port

Baghdad – The Border Ports Authority announced today, Thursday, the seizure of 8 containers violating import conditions at the northern port of Umm Qasr.

The Border Ports Authority said in a statement, “In continuation of the qualitative control process carried out by the Border Ports Authority by exercising its supervisory role, the Umm Qasr Northern Port Outlet Directorate, in cooperation with the Customs Office and the Umm Qasr Al-Shamali Customs Police Station, was able to seize 8 containers containing (mobile devices of various brands, amounting to a total of (48,340) phones and other miscellaneous materials, including cosmetics, perfumes, phone accessories, digital watches, food flavors, and electronic hookah) prepared for smuggling.”

The statement added, “A formal arrest report was prepared, supported by photographs, and the materials were referred to the Umm Qasr Customs Police Station to take appropriate legal measures against the violators.”
