Jeddah:Minister of Energy and Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz met with Australian Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen in Jeddah to discuss potential collaboration on climate action.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting focused on joint efforts related to the upcoming 31st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31), which will be held in T¼rkiye in November. The discussions aimed at promoting the objectives of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement, seeking inclusive and balanced outcomes that consider the national circumstances of member states.

The talks also included a review of Saudi Arabia's climate initiatives, such as the deployment of renewable energy, emissions management, and the Saudi Green Initiative. The implementation of the Circular Carbon Economy approach and its technologies was also discussed.

During Minister Bowen's visit, he toured the Shuaibah Solar Power Project, a significant component of Saudi Arabia's National Renewable Energy Program. Additionally, he visited Historic Jeddah and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) to learn about the university's research and academic programs.
