Fiji Islands Struck by 5.3-Magnitude Earthquake

An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck the coast of the South Pacific Islands of Fiji today.

According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 500 kilometers.

No material or human damage from the quake has been reported yet.

The Fiji Islands are located in an area known as the Ring of Fire in the Pacific Ocean, which is occasionally exposed to many aftershocks and earthquakes that can be intense.
