Riyadh:Minister of Finance Mohammed Aljadaan led Saudi Arabia's delegation at the 126th Meeting of the Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which took place on October 1, 2026. According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting was chaired by Bahrain's Minister of Finance and National Economy, Sheikh Salman Al Khalifa, and included participation from GCC finance ministers and the GCC secretary-general. The ministers discussed various issues aimed at bolstering financial and economic cooperation, such as the progress on the GCC Customs Union and the adoption of the Periodic Report on Monitoring the Progress of the Gulf Common Market. They also deliberated on regional developments and their potential effects on GCC countries, exploring ways to enhance joint coordination in response. Additionally, Minister Aljadaan took part in a joint meeting with GCC finance ministers, central bank governors, and Kristalina Georgieva, the Managing Director of the International Moneta ry Fund (IMF). The discussion centered on an IMF paper titled "Economic Prospects and Policy Challenges Enhancing Economic Resilience to Geopolitical Shocks."
