Riyadh: The Heritage Commission has announced the results of archaeological excavation work at the Hillit site in Al-Dawadmi Governorate, Riyadh Region, during its fourth season, as part of its ongoing efforts to excavate and preserve national antiquities.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Hillit site, located approximately 110 kilometers northwest of Al-Dawadmi, is an ancient mining settlement registered in the National Antiquities Register. The fourth season of excavations revealed 18 architectural units and numerous artifacts. Among the most significant discoveries was a stone weight engraved in Jazm script, marked with the measure "Ratl" (pound), which dates back to the first or second century AH. Other unearthed items include ornaments, pottery vessels, glassware, and stone tools.

Preliminary results from the excavation suggest that the settlement at Hillit dates back to the first century AH. These findings are consistent with the discoveries made during previous excavation seasons, providing a deeper understanding of the historical significance of the site.
