International Dates Council Discusses Sector Challenges at Tunis Roundtable Meeting.

Tunis: The Marketing and Promotion Committee of the International Dates Council (IDC) convened a roundtable meeting in Tunis yesterday, coinciding with the International Agricultural Investment and Technology Fair (SIAT 2024).

According to Saudi Press Agency, Tunisian Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, Ezzeddine Ben Cheik, lauded the involvement of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the IDC, at SIAT 2024. He highlighted the various challenges confronting the dates sector, including climate change, marketing, and quality preservation. He emphasized the need for collaborative efforts among countries engaged in this sector to develop viable solutions.

Abdulrahman Al-Habib, the Executive Director of the IDC, noted in his speech that the dates and palms sector is experiencing significant changes. He stressed the importance of periodic meetings focused on the production and distribution of dates to explore strategies for safeguarding this vital food resource.
