Jordan: Importing Iraqi oil stopped since the beginning of April

Jordan announced the stop of importing oil from Iraq since the beginning of this month, after the end of the memorandum of understanding that provides it with crude oil, despite the approval of the Iraqi Council of Ministers to renew its work.

The Director of the company carrying Iraqi oil to Jordan, Nael Thiabat, said: "The company has stopped importing oil until the government signs the memorandum from the two countries," noting that the delay may be from the Iraqi side.

He pointed out that the new memorandum will allow the import of 10 thousand barrels per day, noting that 310 thousand barrels of oil were imported during the month of March.

Iraq had agreed to renew the memorandum of understanding that provides Jordan with crude oil for a period of one year, after the Council of Ministers approved the recommendation of the Ministerial Energy Council on Tuesday.

Jordan imports Iraqi crude oil according to a memorandum of understanding for the processing of crude oil signed between the Jordanian and Iraqi governments, in force since the beginning of September 2021.
