King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), in collaboration with the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP), hosted the first in-person World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Academy summer school in the Kingdom.
The schools adopt a unified curriculum, with some offering different degrees of specialization in areas of intellectual property (IP).
The in-person summer school, the first of its kind in the Kingdom, was held in the KAUST campus in Thuwal, where it gathered 40 Saudi and foreign participants from 22 countries and 10 international and local speakers specialized in IP issues.
KAUST National Transformation Institute vice president Ian Campbell said that SAIP, KAUST, and the WIPO Academy contribute to a leap in IP via the expertise of international specialists who have provided unique educational opportunities, stressing that this partnership contributes to equipping a new generation of IP experts.
