King Abdulaziz Camel Festival Concluded

Riyadh, King Abdulaziz Camel Festival (7th Edition) concluded its competitions Friday evening, after 45 days of fierce competitions.

The festival, which was held in Al-Sayahed, north of Riyadh, witnessed fierce competitions among the participating camel owners from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the GCC countries, and the world, in the presence of a large audience of camel fans.

In this 7th edition, the camel races included the introduction of the “Founder’s Sword” prize, which depends on the points most scored, for which an amount of 2 million riyals was allocated, while the value of the prizes allocated by the festival’s organizing agency reached 300 million riyals, which also includes the prizes for King Abdulaziz Camel Festival races.

Transactions worth of millions of Saudi riyals were done among the participants to enhance their chances of winning.

The 45 day-festival witnessed more than two million visitors attending the competitions and accompanying events, amid moderate weather and rain that increased the beauty of the nature.

The festival attracted the interest of various local and international bodies, and diplomats who were keen to visit the festival and watch its activities and competitions.

Some ambassadors announced their participation in the International Camel Organization run, in addition to the presence of visitors from different countries of the world.

The festival also witnessed the participation of the Omani Royal Camel, with a special corner to introduce its activities and achievements, which also presented traditional camel shows, used to be held during the official and national events in the Sultanate of Oman.

On the sidelines of the festival, the Saudi Camel Club signed a cooperation agreement with the International Camel Organization, to enhance the presence of the Saudi heritage related to camels around the world, according to which the Organization will be a strategic partner in all the activities of the Club, and the adoption of a permanent headquarters for the Organization in King Abdulaziz Camel Festival in Al-Sayahed, and the participation of the camel club in the Organization's activities in the Kingdom as a strategic partner locally and internationally.
