Ministry of Culture to Organize Saudi Cultural Week in Jordan as Part of Irbid’s Celebrations as 2022Arab Capital of Culture

Riyadh, September 11, SPA — The Ministry of Culture is scheduled to organize a Saudi Cultural Week in Jordan between September 12 and 15 as part of Irbid’s celebrations as the 2022 Arab Capital of Culture.

The week includes several art and cultural events that will be implemented by the Heritage Commission, the Theater and Performing Arts Commission and the Music Commission at the Irbid Cultural Center in Jordan. The participating delegation will be headed by CEO of Theater and Performing Arts Commission and Acting CEO of the Music Commission Sultan Al-Bazie.

The Heritage Commission is participating with several interactive initiatives that seek to highlight the national cultural heritage, including activating the “Year of Saudi Coffee” through the pavilion of the Saudi coffee council, which will be a headquarters to receive guests and will offer Saudi coffee and acquaint visitors on its ingredients and ways to prepare and serve it.

The commission’s participation will also include a screening of a film on the Saudi cultural heritage and its various components that include antiquities, architectural heritage, handicrafts and the intangible cultural heritage.

Meanwhile, the Theater and Performing Arts Commission will display a theater performance for children titled “the cave of tales” on September 14 and 15 on the Irbid Cultural Center, where the event goes over the details of a school trip led by the head of a scout camp along with a group of children to the cave of tales.

The participation of the Music Commission, represented by the Saudi national band for music and coral, will include various songs that aim at spreading the Saudi musical heritage to the world, in addition to performing a medley for several Saudi songs.

The Saudi national band for music is the official band that the Ministry of Culture established in 2021 to represent the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in global and regional events with the aim of providing various types of Arab and international music through merging them with the Saudi music.
