Riyadh: The 2026 National Center for Falcons auction focused on locally trapped falcons is set to commence on October 1, running through November 30. This event aligns with Saudi Arabia's annual falcon trapping season.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the auction exclusively targets juvenile migratory Peregrine falcons, known locally as Shaheen Bahri, that are trapped within the Kingdom. Adult Peregrine falcons and Saker falcons, identified as Qarnas and Hur respectively, are excluded from the event. This approach aligns with the center's regulatory measures aimed at sustaining and preserving these falcon breeds.

The auction is a gathering for falcon trappers and falconers from across Saudi Arabia, promoting sales within a framework designed to protect the rights of participants and ensure transparency. The event plays a significant role in supporting the falconry community while also contributing to the preservation, development, and transmission of falconry heritage for future generations.

Taking place at the National Center for Falcons' headquarters in Malham, located north of Riyadh, the auction will be broadcast via television channels and social media platforms. This allows falconers and enthusiasts to engage with and follow the bidding process for locally trapped falcons.
