The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Ibrahim Taha, received today a telephone call from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
During the telephone conversation, both sides discussed issues of mutual interest, including the latest developments in the occupied city of Al-Quds (Jerusalem), especially the Israeli occupation forces' attack on worshipers inside the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Secretary-General underlined the centrality of the Palestinian cause to the OIC and the Islamic world, briefing Iran's top diplomat on the Organization’s efforts in this regard.
On the other hand, the OIC head voiced the Organization's welcoming of the agreement reached between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran to resume diplomatic relations, expressing hopes that this step would contribute to strengthening peace, security, and stability in the region, and would give a new impetus to cooperation among the OIC Member States.
