The Legal Committee, headed by MP, Rebwar Hadi, Chairman of the Committee, held a joint meeting with the Health and Environment Committee, to discuss a proposal to amend the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law No. (50) of 2017.

The meeting, which was held in the Constitutional Chamber of the House of Representatives, in the presence of the Minister of Health and members of the Supreme National Authority for Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Affairs, confirmed that the law in force has problems that must be addressed, as it did not limit the increase in the number of drug users and traffickers.

The attendees stressed the need to support the Supreme National Authority for Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Affairs, calling on the Ministry of Health and the relevant executive authorities to submit their proposals regarding amending the law.

On the other hand, the meeting agreed to form a joint working group that includes the legal, health, security and defense parliamentary committees to consider amending the law.
