Ranyah, Haql, Farasan Lead Saudi Arabia’s Cleanest Air Rankings in Q2 2026

Riyadh: The National Center for Environmental Compliance (NCEC) announced that the cities of Ranyah and Haql, along with Farasan Island, recorded the highest clean-air indicators in Saudi Arabia during the second quarter of 2026.

According to Saudi Press Agency, NCEC Director of Environmental Data Dr. Mohammed Al-Dighriri noted that the criteria used to select Ranyah as the city with the cleanest air in the second quarter were based on the average number of monitoring stations across cities in Saudi Arabia. Some cities have just one monitoring station, while larger cities have up to eight, depending on city size and differences in air quality monitoring coverage across their neighborhoods.

He said the results reflect Ranyah's environmental compliance, based on the global assessments and indicators NCEC adopts. Al-Dighriri added that the center's assessment relies on air monitoring stations distributed across all cities in the Kingdom, noting that data from 240 stations are automatically transmitted to NCEC's central monitoring room in Jeddah.
