Riyadh: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said today that the scale of destruction caused by the flash floods in Nepal is enormous, with initial estimates indicating that around 93,000 people have been affected.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Head of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) delegation in Nepal, David Fisher, stated during a press briefing in Geneva that washed-out roads, collapsed bridges, and disruptions to mobile phone coverage and electricity have hindered access to some of the worst-affected areas. He further added that thousands of homes have been destroyed or severely damaged, leaving at least 93,000 people in urgent need of assistance.
